Terms of Use
Version 1 · 2026-08-06
These terms are the agreement between you and DUET for the use of DUET. By playing, you accept them.
1. This agreement
These Terms of Use are a binding agreement between you and DUET, Türkiye, the publisher of DUET. They cover the app on iOS, Android and the web, and everything in it.
By downloading, opening or playing DUET you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of this agreement.
Effective from 2026-08-06.
2. Who may play
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use DUET only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.
You may not use the app if any law or sanctions regime bars you from doing so.
3. Your account
- An anonymous account is created on first launch so your progress can be saved. Until you sign in it belongs to that installation alone.
- Signing in with Apple or Google links it to a durable identity, so progress and keys survive a reinstall or a change of device.
- You are responsible for the security of the Apple or Google account you sign in with. We cannot recover progress attached to an anonymous account you have lost access to.
- One person, one account. Extra accounts created to farm rewards, distort leaderboards or evade a suspension breach these terms.
4. Usernames
- Every account has a username. If you do not pick one, we assign one automatically.
- Usernames are unique, between 3 and 16 characters, and are shown publicly on leaderboards.
- You may not use a username that is obscene, hateful, sexually explicit or harassing, or that promotes violence or discrimination; that impersonates another person, DUET, our staff, or any brand or public figure; that contains contact details, a web address or advertising; or that misrepresents your identity or status.
- We may refuse, reclaim or reset any username that breaches these rules, or that is claimed in order to be resold, without notice.
- You acquire no ownership of, and no rights in, a username.
5. Licence
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use DUET on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
6. What you must not do
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or attempt to derive its source code, except so far as the law expressly permits.
- Modify the app, tamper with its network traffic, or use automation, bots or memory editors to play, to earn keys or to place on a leaderboard.
- Manipulate your device clock, location or identifiers to reach daily puzzles, rewards or streaks you are not entitled to.
- Exploit a bug, a defect or a pricing error to obtain keys, hints, reveals or entitlements. If you find one, tell us at baris@barisdede.com.
- Buy, sell, trade or transfer accounts, usernames or virtual items for money or anything of value.
- Interfere with the service, try to reach any account or system you are not entitled to, or place unreasonable load on our servers.
- Use the app, including your username, to harass, abuse, defame or threaten anyone, or to publish unlawful content.
7. Keys, hints and reveals
The game uses virtual items — keys, hints and reveals — and virtual progress such as stars and streaks.
- A virtual item is a limited licence to use a feature of the game. It is not your property, not a deposit, not a payment instrument, and has no monetary value.
- Virtual items cannot be redeemed for money, transferred outside the app, or moved between accounts.
- Balances are held on our servers, which are the authoritative record. Where a device shows something different because it was offline, the server balance prevails.
- We may change the price of an item, the rate at which it is earned, what any action costs, and whether an item exists at all, in order to keep the game balanced.
- Virtual items expire without compensation when your account is closed or terminated, or if DUET is discontinued, except where consumer law says otherwise.
- Unused virtual items are not refundable except as required by law or as set out in section 8.
8. Purchases and subscriptions
- Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, not from us. Payment, taxes and your receipt are handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own terms.
- Prices are shown in your local currency before you confirm. They vary by country and can change.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price, and continue until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- We will tell you before any price rise takes effect and, where the law requires it, ask you to confirm.
- Refunds are granted by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases. Any statutory right to a refund or to withdraw is unaffected.
- In the EEA and the UK you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. By buying virtual items that are delivered immediately, you ask for delivery to begin at once and accept that the right to withdraw ends once delivery is complete.
- If a purchase does not appear, use Restore Purchases in Settings. If it still does not, write to baris@barisdede.com with your store receipt.
9. Advertising
- DUET is funded by advertising. Ads may appear between puzzles, and rewarded videos may be offered in exchange for keys.
- A rewarded ad pays out only when the ad network tells our server it was genuinely watched. Claiming a reward without watching one, whether by emulation, interception or any other means, breaches these terms.
- Daily and per-period limits apply to rewarded ads, and we set them.
- An ad-free purchase removes the interstitial ads we control. It does not remove rewarded videos, which you choose to watch.
- We are not responsible for the content of third-party ads. Report an inappropriate ad to baris@barisdede.com.
10. Leaderboards and fair play
- Times and results are validated on our servers. A result we cannot validate, or that was obtained with a manipulated clock, an altered client or an automated tool, may be removed without notice.
- Solves that used hints or reveals rank below unassisted solves.
- We may reset a board, remove an entry, reset a username or suspend an account where fair play requires it.
11. Our content
DUET, its puzzles, word lists, clues, artwork, sounds, interface, name and logo belong to DUET or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws.
You may share screenshots and results for personal, non-commercial purposes. Otherwise you may not copy, distribute, publish or make derivative works from the app or its content without our written permission.
12. Your content and your feedback
You keep whatever rights you have in your username and in anything else you submit. By submitting it you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it in and around the app for as long as you use the service.
If you send us suggestions or feedback we may use them freely, without compensation and without obligation to you.
13. Third-party services
The app depends on services we do not control, including the App Store, Google Play, Apple and Google sign-in, advertising networks and our hosting provider. Their terms govern your use of them, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
14. Availability and changes to the game
We aim to keep DUET available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, including a game mode or a virtual item.
We may release updates. Some are required for the app to keep working, and support for older versions ends when a newer one ships.
If we discontinue DUET entirely we will give reasonable notice in the app where we can, and will deal with unspent paid virtual items as consumer law requires.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the app at any time, and may ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end your access, with notice where that is practicable, if you breach these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect the service or other players. Where a breach is minor and can be put right, we will normally warn you first.
On termination your licence ends and virtual items are forfeited, without refund except where the law requires one.
16. Disclaimers
So far as the law allows, DUET is provided as it stands and as available, without warranty of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.
Nothing here excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
17. Limitation of liability
So far as the law allows, DUET is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, data, goodwill, progress or virtual items.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to DUET is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or the equivalent of twenty euros.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, and there they apply only so far as they are permitted.
18. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify DUET against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the app. This does not apply where you are a consumer and local law provides otherwise.
19. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts and enforcement offices of Türkiye have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.
Consumers in Türkiye may also apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committees or the Consumer Courts, within the monetary limits published each year.
Consumers in the EU may use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
Before starting any proceedings, please write to baris@barisdede.com. Most things are settled that way.
20. Additional terms for the Apple App Store
The following applies if you obtained DUET from Apple's App Store. Apple requires it, and it prevails over anything inconsistent elsewhere in these terms.
- This agreement is between you and DUET only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for DUET or its content.
- Your licence is a non-transferable licence to use DUET on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for DUET.
- If DUET fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to DUET.
- DUET, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to DUET, including product liability, any failure to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law.
- DUET, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging any third-party claim that DUET infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
21. Additional terms for Google Play
If you obtained DUET from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply in addition to these terms. Google is not a party to this agreement and is not responsible for DUET.
22. General
- If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- You may not assign these terms. We may assign them to an affiliate or to an acquirer of the business, provided your rights are not reduced.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about DUET.
- We may change these terms. The new version will be published here with a new effective date, and where a change is material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to play after that means you accept it.
- These terms are published in English and Turkish. If the two conflict, the Turkish text governs for users resident in Türkiye and the English text governs otherwise.
